you just have to replace that square. should be very easy, just need someone to come out and do it. it can be done in place. taking the whole sash out would be a pain. yes it was an accident but clay should pay (or partly)to have it fixed.
I'm really sorry this happened to you folks. :( I've gotten replacement straps for all of my Wiimotes; now might be the time to do that for yours too. :)
