So I really wanted to knit a pair of these for a friend. But after many months, I'd only gotten this far:

It's not a terribly difficult pattern, but it does require me to pay attention to what I'm doing. And with Linker's "help," I'm just not getting anywhere. And there's a few errors way back up there that I'd have to frog back to fix... and so on. I'm ready to admit that this pattern has kicked my butt, so with my friend's agreement, I'm ditching the Pomatomi and starting something else:

Some fingerless gloves made of a soft grey silk/wool blend... let's see if I can find the pattern online:
Stulpen!

Aren't those nifty? Oh, won't the cabling kick my butt just like the lace did? Well, I did try my hand at a little bit of cabling recently, and it worked out OK:

(Please ignore the goofy look on my face. Ya know that old saw about people who represent themselves legally have a fool for a client? apparently that's true about photography, too...)

I made this hat (Coronet from Knitty) while I was on my trip to California. Linc slept on the plane home and I got to finish the brim before I landed! I think I love cables, and I've been wanting to make something else with them.

Here's another hat I made, too:

with some yarn my friend Caren gave me. I love it! And I've got some more, too... maybe for a scarf to go with the hat?

There's one more thing I recently knit up, a variation of the Booga Bag (I made mine a bit longer and not so tall):

(Thank you, Cordell, for your talented finger assist there). It's still a little loose... I might run it through the washer again and see if it'll tighten up a bit more. But I love how it came out. I really have fun with felting, and would like to do more of that, too. It's such a magical transformation. I'd really like to do felted slippers, but the ones I did before came out soooo small. The sizing is such a roll of the dice... so for now I'm only going to felt stuff that it doesn't matter what size it winds up eventually.

So... I'm knitting again, and it feels really good. I wish there was some way I could figure out how to knit while I was on the damned treadmill, because then I could listen to my podcasts and have something to do and I'd feel productive instead of bored. But I suspect it would only end up in a trip to the ER... one of those trips where everyone except the victim is doing his or her level best not to burst out in laughter.

That's a lovely set of knitted stuff! I haven't tried felting anything yet, but I may have to give it a go, because the results are really neat. A felted hat might be nice, but heeding your warning about sizing, maybe it's not a great idea.
