white-out!

we've had maybe four or five inches of fluffy white stuff come dumping down this afternoon, and i had to drive through it at rush hour to fetch julia home from her classes. it took two hours solid to drive what would normally have been maybe 20 or 30 minutes on a regular day. it was absolutely insane out there. but we are home safe now, warm and dry.
i've got two of clay's buddies over for a slumber party. it doesn't sound like much slumbering is planned. julia is still wiped out from her damento trip, so she'll do enough sleeping for everyone. lincoln is curled up in a laundry basket right now, because all the chairs and other soft spaces are occupied by boy butts. he doesn't seem to mind.
finished the thing for my sister (who might be reading this, so i can't describe it until she gets it, but since i'm incredibly lame, i still have to ship it), and am about halfway through the chemo cap. i got to do about an hour and a half of uninterrupted knitting in the van today during clay's filmmaking class because linc fell asleep on the way there and i didn't want to wake him up. it was chilly but i ran the engine for a few minutes every 15 minutes or so, and listened to the BBC. i feel so informed now! (hurray for middle eastern cease fire, boo for condi's condescending attitude.)
i'm toying with the idea of offering my writing/editing services to the local weekly rag. i wonder if they pay or if it's volunteer. they certainly could use a copyeditor. might be nice to write again...
baby's awake. short nap, linc!
