My father passed away on Dec. 22, 2015.

It's been a pretty rough month. I really should write about it but I'm not ready to. Still, I wanted to let people know this site was up.

Thank you all for your kind support and encouragement these last few weeks. It has helped so much to know I'm not alone.

I feel like I've done enough grief support of others to know how to be patient with myself as I go through this... but even with all that knowledge and experience, I'm starting to get annoyed with myself for not pulling up my bootstraps and getting on with things. I know that getting sick when I got home, being stuck indoors during this crap weather, and family craziness all have contributed to things being just shit in all directions (imagine a RainBird but spewing shit instead of water)... gaaah.

Also many hugs to you as you negotiate your own loss and grief...

Aww thanks! It's mostly grown out down to my shoulders again, I just whacked off a bunch of the top stuff to make bangs and layers but left the long stuff. I picked up the top third, then dyed the rest all purple and blue, so now the grey hangs over it. The idea was to have peek-a-boo layers of color. I'm hoping to get decent photos, but it's been all grey and cold here, and my indoor lighting doesn't really do it either. Just imagine a fabulous 'do, and that's me!

I know what you mean about feeling like you SHOULD be further along or whatever. I think that's practically universal. I say fuck the SHOULDS. Wallowing in true emotion sets a great example for your family. Think of the women who pound their breasts and wail and then wear black and sit for a year or more before they do anything. Americans are awful at grieving and it shows in our rates of substance abuse and mental illness.
