I took it yesterday morning. Most of his last pictures had a really confuzzled look on his face (that was part of his dementia), but yesterday he had some alert moments and was really present with us. That's part of why it was so hard, but we talked with the vet a while, and we knew that it was only one of last lucky good days.

I'm sorry you had to say goodbye to your friend! We had to euthanize my favorite dog in the whole wide world last year because he had canine cognitive dysfunction and had become unpredictable with kids, it was really hard.

I'm so very sorry for the loss of your sweet dog.

That's what Wiley was going through. He had developed every single symptom, and spent so much time confused and frightened... it was the right thing to do, but still soooo horrible.

The best thing we can do for our pets is to escort them out of their lives with dignity and love, but that doesn't make it easy. I guess maybe it's "the best thing" *because* it isn't easy. Hugs to you and your family.
