We matched on #1. I need new reading glasses, but am waiting a year due to the dental bills this year eating up the flexible medical spending.

I sit on an aluminum folding chair at an unfinished-wood computer table. For a while I had a real comfy office chair, cost under $100 at Staples; then I got rid of it after reading the news story about someone dying after being impaled when the hydraulic mechanism to lift and lower it malfunctioned and became a missile. I have no carpets and minimum-cushion furniture because I am allergic to dust mites. I have enough clothes, mostly for work and not suitable for very polite society.

I hope you get the space of your own. I used to fantasize about it when my husband's stuff was piled everywhere, and there is a definite upside to living alone. I'm with you on the moving bit... I will probably move within a year (gotta) and then again (wanna) within 5 years, but after that hope to not have to again for a good 20.

When my ex and I rented the Cheapest House in Davis ($500 for a 4-bedroom place), one summer we had an extra bedroom we couldn't fill, so we just paid the extra rent and I adopted it. We had a single bed and a desk we stuck in there, and I made it my writing/reading/painting room. It was HEAVENLY and I've always wanted to do it again. We will someday!

I never knew that about chair hydraulics... I've had those chairs fall apart, but never explosively. What a way to go!

#1- I was skeptical, but now I've ordered from www.zennioptical.com 3x and had perfect results each time. The glasses took between 10-18 days to arrive (10 days, 16 days, 18 days).

Holy COW those are cheap! Do you have bifocals? (I think you did, but I'm not positive...)

I have always fantasized about having more than one pair of glasses... thanks SO MUCH!

Do you get any discount for referring me? I don't see a way to do that, thought I'd ask...

no referral bonus and yes to bifocals...I have 7 pairs of glasses now! One that I have had for years and 2 sets of 3 from Zenni. Love them all.

So you don't get your prescription checked? I know my eyes have been changing over the last few years (the joy of gettin' old)... I wonder if they've settled down enough to go ahead and get a few pairs.

I can't link to a particular pair, or I'd show you the first ones I'm getting. I think the item number is 362729, maybe it's findable that way?

I went to CostCo for my prescription and specifically asked them to measure the distance between my pupils for the Zenni order. I have to get new scrips every year for contact lenses anyway.

I think eye doctors will give you that measurement. I've been wanting to order a 'cheap' pair of prescription sunglasses, although i'm not sure i got that measurement at my last eye appointment.

I have two pairs of really nice glasses - a almost-not-there pair, and a stylish thicker frame pair. Neither one was cheap, but, i have to say, the overall expenditure spread out over all the years i've worn them have been entirely worth while. Since i wear glasses pretty much all the time, i really appreciate that i have some that i genuinely like, not just put up with. It is, in some ways, a simple pleasure, but it is a very real pleasure.
