Today we unpacked most of the last few upstairs boxes... books and vases and such. There's some glassware on the dining room table that seems to be homeless... not enough shelving at the moment, but it will eventually sort itself out. The basement is more or less organized, though still in a raw state... it seems to have mostly become the boys' domain, except for a nice crafts area for me. There are lots of boxes with photos awaiting scrapbooking, yarn awaiting knitting, beads awaiting jewelry making and fabric awaiting quilting. I'm also starting a little writing project... nothing really exciting, just something to keep my fingers busy.

I've been feeling a little self-isolated lately... not really wanting to put myself out there yet. I think Clay's ready to start meeting people, though, and so he's taking a CPR class this weekend. We'll try to get him to some local homeschooling gatherings soon, and I've got a few Chicago Hipmama meetups I'm thinking about going to, also.

Still planning on trying to go out to California at the end of September. We'll have Christian here for a while early in the month, then Clay goes to KC for a week. Been talking to Cordell and Julia a lot lately, too... everyone is in transition right now.

Put up a bird feeder, and now I have a bunch of fat and sassy sparrows hanging out on the back porch. This is cheering me up a lot, for some reason.

KC folks, I miss you all so much!

I have a photographer contact in Chicago who is a really interesting woman and who, I think, is a teacher or works with special needs kids doing art (this I have gleaned from her descriptions of occasional photos taken of things other than bands).

Her photostream might give you an idea of places you and/or Clay could go see bands, and things to look at in the city. And a comment that mentions you know Saska might go a long way toward making a real life contact there if you think she looks like the kind of person you'd want to know better. :)

Wiley goes out and lays down under the feeder, and they won't come while he's there... they just sit in the trees and scold him. He cares not a whit.

xoxo back atcha!

Of course there's not enough shelving, it all moved to me and Monica's houses. ;)

We miss you too! I'll give you a call soon (do you have the same phone number?).

Yes, for now I'm keeping the KC number... just easier to remember for this creaky ol' brain. And with cell phones these days, the different area code really isn't a problem at all.
