I think the A/C in this old house is failing... the temp hasn't gotten below 81 on the main floor, and it's much worse upstairs. Only two windows open upstairs, one only 6" in the bathroom and the other in my bedroom, but there's no way to get any airflow moving even if it WAS cooler than 80 degrees outside, which it isn't. We picked up a new filter to see if that would help (it didn't), and when Bill changed it, he saw that the motor was being dripped on by condensation... not a good thing.

I am toying with the idea of just hiring some people to shove everything into boxes, and stuffing what we need into the car, and just leaving the boxes and furniture for the movers. But I need a bed and a week of hotel would be a pointless waste of money.

My Nia lunch was ruined by really bad service and a truly awful sandwich (supposedly Cuban sweet-chili braised pulled pork... in reality, dry cubes of totally flavorless meat, on a dry sandwich... Blue Grotto, you should be ashamed of yourself). I came home starving and Clay was still asleep... Linc had been watching the same movie for three and a half hours, and eating pretzels. I fixed him some food and played some games with him, feeling like the worst mom in the world. I made some popcorn as comfort food but I think corn is doing some sort of number on me, causing inflammation and painful joints. And there's the whole blood-sugar dive after a pile of carbs, after the initial satiation. So I felt worse after I ate it, and even worse that the discomfort was self-inflicted.

It was so freakin' hot inside the house, I had zero energy even after taking the Provigil (my last one, and I didn't get to Costco until after their pharmacy closed). Clay and I dragged up boxes and taped 'em, but I ran out of juice and he let me go take a nap. In the roasting bedroom... yay for fans.

I'm feeling itchy, hot, irritable, swollen, stressed, sad...

Stupid weather. Stupid A/C. Stupid everything.

Go. Take a cool shower. Not cold: cool. Turn the hot water down slowly until it's very cold and stay under a loooong time. Then get out into the heat and warm back up. Repeat as necessary.

Wet a washcloth and put it around your neck. (I hear that freezing it first is nice too.) Put ice cubes into a bandana and roll it up into a neck-wrap.

Put your feet into cold water. Put your hands into cold water. Let your body release heat via blood flow to the extremities.

Keep the lights low.

UGH. Go. Check your email for your invitation to the always-man-cold Chez Cook. Right after you get out of that cool shower, that is.
