It's been a rough few days. Besides the family sadness, my back has been more or less out since I drove back from WisCon on Memorial Day. I thought it was bursitis, and it still might be, but it's been acting sciatic too for the last two days. I went and soaked in the tub at the health center where I take Nia, and it felt great while I was in there, but it started tightening up again almost as soon as I got back to the car.

I need to fly back to Chicago soon, and I'm not at all looking forward to being on a plane.

Whine whine whine. Thanks for listening. Gonna go have another dose of Vitamin I and ice it for a while. Hope your week is going better!

FWIW, my bursitis is generally made worse by heat. It feels good while I'm doing it, but there's hell to pay afterwards. Ice is the thing for bursitis: it's an inflammation, and heat is not the best thing for inflammation.

I often fall asleep lying on my left side with a large ice bag balanced on my right hip, and generally wake up the next morning in significantly less pain.

Gee, do you think it could be stress?

IF it's a muscle problem, see if you can find a massage person who does chinese massage. (My acupuncture student friend is learning it in her TCM school, but she says that many practitioners don't do it b/c it's strenuous.) It's intense, but it really does the job.

(If it's bursitis, as J suggests, then not so much, but then the TCM would be good for the inflammation, I suspect.)
