Quick update...

Had a mostly fantastic visit to California... my mom did allow me to come visit her, twice, and seemed okay with it (she was pretty spacey on all the morphine). My dad was definitely happy to see me, which made the drive worth it.

Got back to KC and immediately had my sister come for a quick and wonderful visit full of Nia and BBQ and a speakeasy, while simultaneously preparing for the Chicago road trip and WisCon.

Really tired... I haven't been using the ProVigil much but I think today will be a good day for it.

I'm feeling a little... detached? unmoored? Like I never really got home, I suppose, and here I am launching off again. I'm sure I'm going to forget a ton of stuff, but as long as I have my laptop and CPAP and car keys, I'll be OK.

iPod loaded, rental car acquired, map printed, hotel confirmed... Boys will be back on Friday, I'll get back late next Monday. Will try to fling some photos this direction when I can (btw, a few new braid photos from Whole Earth are up over on my flickr).

As always, your braids are beautiful. I'm sorry we weren't able to catch up while you were here. We must make it happen when you get back from up north! I hope you have a truly fabulous time this week.

I'm looking forward to meeting them, and all their parents! My kiddos will head back to KC on Friday morning. So I'll be footloose and kidfree all weekend.

Nope, just two of the parents will be there; the other isn't a con kinda guy. But you'll still be meeting 80% of the family. :)
