Fluid dynamics

This is definitely one of the cooler knitting projects I have EVER seen:

Fluid Sculpture from Charlie Bucket on Vimeo.

Hmmm... I have a engineer friend who works with silicone tubing...

That is fascinating!

I'm sorry, but it seriously just looks like IV tubing to me. Especially with all the blood I've been hanging lately...

Then this is for you.

(Specifically, the first column, sixth row down... but really, probably lots of them!)

You knitters are really weird, you know that, right?
Hahahahaha!

The droplets from a distance look like bugs. Which would have been kind of kickass, to send an ant colony or something through it.

That is seriously cool. I'm picturing a wall hanging, some sort of lace pattern, with continually changing colors of fluid moving through it (I have to agree the red is a little too blood-like though!). But it looks a little difficult too - tubing flexible to knit but not so soft it would kink.

That really got the creative part of my brain up and running this morning!

Ohh - another idea - for kids who have to have blood draws, little animal shapes or something in the tubing as a distraction from what's going on. Like a silly straw. Never could convince my kids not to look while it was happening, so better to give them something different to look at?

That's an awesome idea, I would looove the silly-straw blood draw!

I have all this tiny tubing around from my insulin pump, and I have thought to braid it or weave it and heat-seal colored water inside, but this is a million times better! The beads of fluid making their journey around... fascinating.

That was really cool. And the new ideas forming here are even better!
