The transmission is totally, irrevocably b0rked.

Rebuilt tranny and labor: $4,168
Salvaged tranny and labor (if we could find one, which so far has proven difficult): $3,100

Resale value (if it were in great shape): $1,500 to $3,000

I'm not feeling too good right now.

Wow. I was just thinking of you! I recently finished the Clapotis, and need another knitting project to keep me from unraveling myself, and I think it's (FINALLY) gonna be your handbag! Sorry to keep you hanging so long (yeesh... over a year!) but I hope it'll be worth it.

And thanks for the sympathy. Yeah, we'll be okay being a one-car family again, but... it's gonna suck.

aw, dang. you guys have had more than your fair share of this shit. I'm sorry.
Wonder if you can get a used car for less than $3000? I bet you can, and it might just be worth it now.

I'm sure there are plenty out there. We just don't HAVE three grand, and our credit is shot from the foreclosure, and anyway the banks aren't giving loans, much less for used cars. So... we go back to one car, and it'll be okay. It's just gonna suck... we've really gotten used to being able to split up and swap the kiddo and take turns fetching the big kid and such. I know we're lucky to have even one good car... but it's a 92 and who knows how much longer it's gonna last?

Also... no more road trips. THAT sucks.

I didn't realize you had another car. Well, you can sell the one you have, and use that money for... oh, a bottle of wine.

at the risk of pissing you off with excessive cheeriness, this is a good opportunity to flex your environmental muscles. Bill is close to work and wanted to start walking or biking anyway, so you'll have a car during the day. how many other places can you walk, bike, or take a bus to free up/make the car last longer?

(I can picture you response now, because i'm sure KC has shitty busses and bad biking and is hot. But, at the same time, i'm honestly impressed with how many trips are possible once you start looking.)

Lack of road trips do suck. that will have to be fixed somehow.
*hug*

I started to reply to this, and it became another post, so keep that in mind when you read it...

You're right about the shitty busses and bad biking. The prevailing notion here is that bicyclists who get hit were asking for it (and it happens a LOT). And they're getting ready to cut the bus services again... also, can't take the dog on it. We're already doing more walking... this is definitely a more pedestrian-oriented area than the one we were housesitting in, with a really nice park and pool about a block away.

There will be lemonade. But right now, the pile of lemons is looking pretty overwhelming, and I'm indulging my whiny self for a bit before digging in the drawer for the big-girl panties.

Aw, that sucks. But you've got Grandma's car, and without me and Cord, you guys even all fit into it. And you're living close enough to Stowers that you don't really need two cars, right?

We'll survive. It's just another layer of loss on top of the foreclosure, the rejections Bill's been slapped with time after time and sending him out again, the hormonal crap, the psycho dude last week... I'm feeling stretched.

Thanks. I was thinking about you (and the rest of your fabulous household) whenever I saw the word "equinox" over the last few weeks. How'd it go? Can I swipe... er, I mean, borrow... any puzzles for our own (late) version?

The megagame by Rubrick and Trazom was tons of fun, so definitely get a hold of that. And this game was cool. There were also tons of wall games, though I didn't look at any of them myself.

Hey, I heard you and Trazom made a kickass Equinox puzzle. Any chance we could use it for a puzzle party out our way? I'm a little late for the actual astronomical event, but the spirit is still hoping to pull it off.

Sure! We have one or two very corrections to make based on the Equinox experience, and then I'll send you the link. Remind me if I haven't done so in a few days.
