Lovely things this Christmas Eve

mamagotchaOn the way home from delivering the last box of homemade cookies, I heard a piece on NPR about Yo-Yo Ma inviting everyone... yes, even YOU... to collaborate with him on a beautiful piece of music, and the winner will get to meet him in person! It's even cooler that the particular piece of music he chose, "Dona Nobis Pacem," is one of my favorites to sing in a group.
Linc has invented a word: "tockle." It's a combination of tackle and topple, I think.
We've got a really adorable Basset hound named Barley hanging out with us (we're doing a bit of petsitting as well as housesitting), and there's a kitty somewhere around here, too, but we haven't seen much of him.
Other delights: small batches of homemade eggnog, reading our family's traditional Christmas Eve stories aloud before bed, everyone being done with the stomach flu, and listening to Pandora's "Peaceful Holiday" station.
Now, if you'll excuse me, Santa needs a little bit of help finishing up his wrapping tonight. I hope you all have a warm and cozy evening with someone you love close at hand, or at least at heart.
