Aunt Amanda Does Kansas City

My sister, Amanda, came to visit while the kids were in California for their dad's wedding (which, by their accounts, went well and a good time was had by all).
I gathered Amanda a few hours before Julia flew off, so we had a nice lunch at the wonderful Malay Cafe (on NW Barry Rd., highly recommended!). We dropped poor Julia to wait an hour or so, but it turned out that her plane was something like 4 hours late. She had some books to keep her happy, but unfortunately she grabbed the meat-bearing doggie bag of leftovers from lunch. She survived, though.
Amanda had a nice time with Linc, I think. She brought him a cool little book ("Tails") and a cute new Rescue Unit outfit, pictured below.

Let's see... we did lots of stuff. We got new tires on the van, and walked to Home Depot for repair stuff. She then came home and fixed my downstairs bathroom sink and toilet and upstairs sink. We bought a new mower (the old one gave up the ghost, and Bill wanted a gas one now). She practically relandscaped the entire property. She swam at Swope Pool (she's in training for the wet leg of a triathlon). We ate out at several nice lunch places. And we got her a tattoo:

Linc is thinking of something tribal, but hasn't made up his mind yet:

My mom sent along some peaches and cherries for our second anniversary, so we made a yummy peach cobbler:

We did some shopping, and she found these fabulous acrylic glasses. They're clear with some color in the bottom, that refracts beautifully when filled with water. And they were even on sale!

We also did some sightseeing, and she got this nice pic at the Kauffman Memorial Gardens:

She stayed for one day after Clay and Julia came home, then headed back to Syosset until October. I managed to win the Parsley Game with her by sneaking a bit into her coin purse, which caused some confusion and ensuing hilarity at the airport. Ha!
