Numbah One: After grumping at him for inconsequential things tonight, my husband sweetly gave me one of these (that indigo-purple one, on the far left). I am grinning like a danged fool and feeling very loved.

Numbah Two: Hey, I know that guy! No, not Jon (though he and I have corresponded a bit), but NeilFred is Renfield of the NPL and an amazing juggler who performs as part of the Stanford Juggling Research Institute (along with the charming [livejournal.com profile] rubrick), teaches unicycling at Camp Winnarainbow, married to the brilliant [livejournal.com profile] lunacow who has been a writing hero of mine and also extremely gracious hostess... I even juggled at their wedding (and braided her gorgeous hair), and she wrote a lovely poem for mine... Puzzling and juggling and poetry all in one house (I'm not even including their other two housemates, whose skills encompass knitting and baking and coding and Rockbanding and boardgaming, as well as just being extraordinarily awesome human beings... or all the myriad fascinating people who can often be found at their home). Oh, HALFLAB, how I miss you!

ETA: It's been pointed out that Dunn in the article is none other than [livejournal.com profile] npl_loquacious (hi, Loq!) which I really should have known but didn't, and that NeilFred's dad is also the wonderful Hot from NPL... well, the connections are many. Jon, come join us!

You also know his father, mentioned in the piece, to say nothing of his friend Dunn (aka Loquacious). Given that Jon also knows his local music critic, I feel like he really ought to get dragged into the NPL. He likes words, right?

I wondered if she was that Dunn when I was reading the article. Thanks for clarifying, and yes, he should totally be recruited.

Can you just drag him to an Equinox party? That usually does it.

Or put up a PayPal button and we'll all donate a buck or two and gift him a membership.

FWIW, he's been to at least one Equinox, many years ago, and wrote a column about it --

The nom's Renfield, not The Foole. :)

Thanks for all the kind words!

D'oh! I KNEW THAT!

I wish you could have heard me squeak when I read that column!

Was Atoz on the team with you? Or anyone else I know?

Actually, Atoz was among the organizers of the event. The team was me, Br&on, ln sin t, plus a couple of Googler friends.

Okay. Other NPLers on Ghost Patrol GC: Boots and Vertigo. Most of the NPLer at GP were, erm, encouraging Ian Tullis, who wrote a puzzle that made it into the game in fifteen minutes flat (sorry), to join but he kept chattering about some MIT thing that he is working on.

Jealous, jealous, jealous! I got an iPod Nano and then a mere month later they came out with the new ones. So I can only drool over those gorgeous colors...

I don't deserve this at all. I was going to return it and get a reconditioned cheaper one... and then I started playing with it. I'm afraid it's staying now.

All you have to do, apparently, is have yours vanish into thin air, and then whine for the next month.

I did love my little Nano, though. What color is yours? Maybe some cool nail polish would jazz it up...

Also... I have a nice little velcro/lycra armband holder for my old Nano, that won't fit my new one. Would you be able to use it?

A tiny correction, Shana's husband is Sébastien Soldevila and their baby girl was born just this morning (November 12) at about 2 am in Montreal.

How the HECK did I screw that one up? Who's married to Patrick, then? I wonder about my sanity sometimes.

At least I got Shana's name right... and she and Patrick DID work on the Seven Fingers project together. Were they ever together? Or am I totally fabricating a nice little alternative reality?

Must be the day for Nanos, my sweetie just came home with one yesterday as well. I'm still amazed that such a tiny thing can hold 16G of data. At a moderate bit-rate and average track and album length that's still over 400 albums!! Geez, we're spoiled in these modern times :)

I remember scrimping and saving for a 20M hard drive back in '85... I think it was $200, and it was a BIG DEAL.

Sweetie? Do tell!

We've been seeing each other just over a year now. Oh, how time flies! He's a pretty awesome guy, he cooks for me, and he's even crafty!
[livejournal.com profile] nfnitperplexity if you want to take a peek :) He recently posted a recipe for vegetarian pâté you may actually want to try. I thought it was even better the next day when I baked some of it in filo dough. Yum!

I spent a while waiting in South Station on the way back to Worcester, and the whole place was just slathered with ads for those new iPods. I counted forty-two of them from where I was sitting.
