maradydd offers a post-mortem of California's passage of Prop. 8, and a follow-up "what now?" post.
I have an extremely tiny amount of experience reading and understanding legal maneuvers... but this strikes me as non-hysterical and well-researched, as well as clearly explaining the situation to us mere mortals. If you care about marriage and why everyone deserves equal protection despite their dangley bits (or lack thereof), you owe it to yourself to read these posts.
A subsequent donation to the ACLU would be awesome.
