Thanks, everyone. I'm actually not as bummed as I thought I'd be (though I might change my tune just a smidge around Halloween).
I imagine we'll be putting a lot of our stuff into storage, because we're hoping Bill will land a job this hiring cycle, which means we'll move again sometime between March and August. So we can go quite a bit smaller than this place.
A friend made the very sensible query: "Where is Stowers?"
The Stowers Institute of Medical Research is located on the site of the old Menorah Hospital, at the intersection of Volker and Troost... just north of UMKC, just south of Brush Creek, just west of Highway 71 (Bruce Watkins Drive), and a bit east of the Plaza branch of the library. It's hollering distance from Kauffman Garden and the Russell Stover building (I've always wondered if Stowers and Stover's get their mail mixed up sometimes).
So... Rockhill, Plaza, Hyde Park are the neighborhood names I'm aware of. I know there's some residential area between Troost and 71, around Paseo High School, but I'm not very familiar with it.
I know our next spot is out there... I just need to put our needs out to the universe, and the universe will deliver.

Date: 2008-08-25 10:05 pm (UTC)If the cost of commuting was offset by an ultra-cheap situation, I think we'd certainly consider it... especially if it was in a dog/kid-friendly and/or outdoorsy space.
I think we need to be looking in the neighborhood of $500-$700/mo.
Whatcha got in mind? I'm dying to know!
