up early with linc again... he's been teething like crazy but nothing showing through yet besides the first two. he's nursing ALL THE TIME and filling many diapers, not eating any solids or sleeping very long. but he's been in a good mood despite all the pain he must be in, practicing commando-style crawling and babbling. once in a while, he'll nod "yes" when we ask him if he wants more of something, so cute!

bill took him for a walk and they were in a springtime squall this morning (bless his heart, he takes the baby most mornings because he sleeps through the night nursings/diaper changes better than i do). they made it home unscathed... linc loves to walk in any weather. and because of the extra sleep and even a quick yoga session, i have felt better today than i have in weeks. seriously!

busy couple of days being the kids' bus driver... julia and cord both needed to go back and forth from the community college a few times, clay and cord went to see H2G2, cord visited friends, clay had gym and film classes, juggling, picking up papers from the vet, shopping... the van goes in the shop for a pre-road-trip checkup tomorrow so i'll finally have a nice at-home day to get caught up on stuff.

got my new digital filming book and Hi-8 tapes in the mail... i have three film ideas, but i've gotta narrow it down. maybe i'll bring the camera with me on the trip and get travel footage for something down the road... we'll see if we have enough room in the van.

julia and i went to the library and picked out a BUNCH of great books-on-tape for the trip: anne of green gables, frindle, farmer giles of ham, tintin (yes, tintin on tape! it looks like a radio production of some sort), huck finn and tom sawyer, first book in the earthsea trilogy, a kids' book by neil gaiman, stuff by garrison keillor and p.g. wodehouse, plus some tony hillerman and wally lamb (for jules and i on the trip back)... nineteen in all. we are SET!

jules made tour appointments at both reed college and UCLA, both had tours available while we were in the area... and we'll be in portland during the portland jugglers' weekly meeting. things are falling into place, but still... sooo many more details to juggle and deal with.

i'm starting to feel like i'm getting back into the groove again, shopping and cooking and laundry are slowly getting back into gear (just in time to be derailed by the trip, oh well!). i made some fantastic blueberry pancakes this morning, and a passel of savory breaded portobello mushrooms tonight... plus chocolate cookies with peanut butter chips with clayton yesterday.

i'm going to get a haircut on saturday. i think i'm going to lose a lot of the damaged and colored stuff. we'll see what happens; maybe i'll post a picture.

juggling was actually really fun last night (even though clayton lost his yo-yo). i haven't been enjoying it all that much since we've gotten this local club off the ground, but last night bill and i got back into the rhythm of partnership, where we try and conquer stuff just at the edge of our ability, or devise games or patterns to test ourselves. it was a nice taste of the reason we hooked up in the first place, and a hopeful reminder that we'll get back to being playful and curious and creative together again someday, instead of just tossing the baby back and forth and dealing with household problems.

he really is a great guy. i can't believe i've gotten another chance at building a long-term relationship at this stage of the game. he's so smart, and funny, and patient with me, and good with the baby (and my older kids, too), and generous, and cuddly... i truly am an amazingly lucky woman.

yep, life is good.
