so, a key. what kind of key am i?

You're a car key, and not only do you unlock the
car, you help everyone get where they're going.
Important to many but often misplaced, you have
something to offer that everyone wants. Just be
sure you don't let yourself become nothing more
than a means to an end.
What sort of key are you and what do you unlock?
brought to you by Quizilla
yeah, that's me these days.
more soon!

Date: 2005-04-29 07:25 pm (UTC)Some thoughts (because i'm better at thoughts than sympathy).
1) Apple pimping might be fun for you, actually, though i don't know when you'd do it if it involes leaving the house. Still, can't hurt to investigate.
I was thinking....
if J is going to do that crafts booth next fall, maybe you could make some crafts to be sold there as well. The knitting you were doing while i was in KC was nice enough to be sold. Baked good might also sell at a profit.
Might be able to find other in-home jobs (typing docs., baby-watching, mending).
2) Cordell moving back to CA should actually help you out. He's old enough to support himself, and its one less mouth to feed. Thats not a very pleasant way to to think about it - i prefer to imagine him spreading his wings and being happy - but i think its true.
3) I assume J means college in AU 2006, because most colleges have already designated their incoming class for 2005. Regardless, no time is too early for her to begin looking for scholarships and loans. I don't know if this is still true, but when i was in highschool taking the PSAT opened a lot of doors in terms of colleges looking for you, and even scholarship opportunities. The counselor at her community college should also be helpful.
Sigh. *hug* i'm glad you have your computer back.

Date: 2005-04-30 12:34 pm (UTC)1) I'm looking into Apple... we'll see if it's a possibility with my time, the kids, one car, etc. Childcare and freelance writing are really the only home-based work I can do without an initial outlay, which is pretty important if you don't have extra cash lying around. I've tried crafts... that's more of a hobby, really. I can make enough to support the addiction but that's about it. I think Bill should sell danishes to the local cool movie theater, though!
2) It's not a done deal, but Cord moving would have pluses and minuses. He'll go when he's ready, and it will be OK.
3) I just meant Jules continuing at the community college for now. She needs to finish her AA before she can apply to other schools. I've mentioned the PSAT; she doesn't think she needs it. We've done the FAFSA for 05 and 06; we'll see if anything comes of it (so far, nada). What she really needs to do is get a job.
And yes, I'm pretty happy about having my machine back in running order again, too!
Time to haul Cordell to referee...
