From
serenejournal and
kightp:
1. What bill do you hate paying the most?
My sweetie has mostly taken on all the bill-paying activity in our family. So that stress has been thankfully removed from my life. But life takes on a little extra frission when the mortgage is due...
2. Where was the last place you had a romantic dinner?
Our 8th anniversary dinner in September at Le Fou Frog. But the first time we went there, in July, was even better... we did puzzles by candlelight!
3. Do you regret losing your virginity to who you lost it to?
Nope.
4. If you could go back and change one thing what would it be?
Either change my genes so I'm not so fat, or change society's attitudes so that fat people aren't the pariah of our time.
5. Name of your first grade teacher?
No freakin' clue.
6. What do you really want to be doing right now?
Browsing Seattle real estate listings.
7. What did you want to be when you were growing up?
A veterinarian, thanks to the books of James Herriot. I did work for a few vets, but Chem 1A/B kicked my ass in college and I careened off towards the liberal arts (with a few years of programming on the way)
8. How many colleges did you attend?
Santa Rosa Junior College and University of California, Davis.
9. Why did you choose the shirt that you have on right now?
Heh. I'm naked as the day I was born.
10. What are your thoughts on gas prices?
Gas should probably cost more than milk. I think we Murrcans are quite a bit spoiled by cheap gas. If the price reflected the actual cost, there'd be a lot fewer hulking SUVs and a lot more interest in electric vehicles.
11. If you could move anywhere and take someone with you where would it be?
Sigh. I think you all know the answer to this one.
12. First thought when the alarm went off this morning?
No alarms. I've found that I'm much happier throughout the day if there's a hope of waking up when I'm done sleeping. It doesn't always happen, but a squirmy toddler saying good morning is a million times better than something artificial honking at you.
13. Last thought before going to sleep last night?
"Don't forget to finish filling out Julia's forms for Amherst."
14. Favorite underwear?
The ones that don't ride up while I'm doing my workouts.
15. How many windows are open on your computer?
Two windows, five tabs.
16. What errand/chore do you despise?
None of us do well with the leaf-raking/snow-shoveling detail. If it weren't for the dog, I think I'd be ready for a condo or apartment.
17. If you didn't have to work, would you volunteer?
I don't, and I do.
18. Get up early or sleep in?
Sleep in whenever I can!
19. What is your favorite cartoon character?
Cartoon as in drawn comic? Probably Hobbes. Bill Watterson hits the funnybone so well. I miss his work, but thankfully he drew the strip for long enough to leave a substantial body of work to go back to. I still haven't invested in the complete set, but it's on the wish list.
Cartoon as in animated shorts? Hmm, how about Slappy Squirrel?
20. Favorite thing to do at night with a girl/guy?
Are you on that filter?
21. Have you found real love yet?
Oh mai, oui!
22. When did you first start feeling old?
When I started being mistaken for Linc's grandmother (once, while we were nursing!)
23. Favorite 80's movie?
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
24. Your favorite lunch meat?
Oooh, I haven't had thuringer in forever!
25. What do you get every time you go into Costco?
Nona's biscotti, guacamole, pasta, cereal.
26. Beach or lake?
Beach.
27. Do you think marriage is an outdated ritual?
I guess not, being married and all.
28. Do you own property?
Our home.
29. Favorite guilty pleasure?
Animal Crossing. I can't believe I just wrote that.
30. Favorite movie you wouldn't want anyone to find out about?
Hm. Can't think of any... I like sharing movie discoveries.
31. What's your drink?
Fruity concoctions like Lemon Drops, Sea Breezes and Cosmopolitans.
32. Cowboys or Indians?
I'm part Native American, but I just read Gene Autry's Cowboy Code, and thought it was pretty cool. So I guess we'll stick with coexistance.
33. Cops or robbers?
I guess I'm a sucker for elaborate schemes and mayhem, especially with a great soundtrack, so I'm leaning towards the robbers.
34. Who from high school would you like to run in to?
Jesse, who is studying hydrogeology in Toronto.
35. What radio station is your car radio tuned to right now?
KCUR, the local NPR station. Once in a while it goes to the local Jack station, too.
36. Norm or Cliff?
Is this about Cheers? I haven't watched network TV since about 1983.
37. 'The Cosby Show' or 'The Simpsons'?
See 36. I do love both "Life in Hell" and Bill Cosby's early comedy recordings, but I think Matt Groening's probably closer to my own humor sensibility.
38. Worst relationship mistake that you wish you could take back?
Oh lord. I wish I could just erase high school.
39. Do you like the person that sits directly across from you at work?
That would be Linc. Love him like anything!
40. What famous person would you like to have dinner with?
Alan Alda.
41. Indoors or outdoors?
I tend to cocoon inside, but I always feel so much better if I get outside even for a little bit.
42. Have you ever crashed your vehicle?
Thank goodness, never. Scraped my driver's door on a 3ft tall parking pylon that was totally below my line of sight, and I felt awful. Fortunately, Bill made me feel better by scraping the other side of the van within a few days of the incident.
43. Have you ever had to use a fire extinguisher for its intended purpose?
Nope. But I've got several stashed around the house just in case.
44. Last book you read?
Steven Gould (not the evolutionary one), "Jumper." Clay had taken it out of the library, I'd seen the movie trailer, and borrowed it from him. Eh. It was OK, nothing earthshaking, but a nice quick read. Before that, probably Hugh Laurie's lovely little novel, "The Gun Seller." Much better... if you like Wodehouse, you'll love it.
45. Do you have a teddy bear?
Yeah, but he's in Texas right now.
46. Strangest place you have ever brushed your teeth?
I dunno. Camping somewhere?
47. Somewhere in California you've never been and would like to go?
Yosemite (I know! How can I have been a native for 40 years and NOT seen Yosemite?!)
48. Do you go to church?
Once in a while I traipse over to the local paganish UU church. And I take Linc to the closer UU playgroup on Thursdays.
49. At this point in your life would you rather start a new career or a new relationship?
I'm looking forward to whatever job I'm gonna land wherever we move to next, but I don't know if it will be a new career or not. I'm not against it, though.
50. How old are you?
Forty four. That one's easy to remember, but I tend to lose track.
