the pagan singing group went solstice caroling tonight, and we agreed to meet back here at my house afterwards to warm up with cookies and cider. i joked to bill that he could make a yule log, and he took up the challenge. here it is!



two days in the making, this fabulous confection features an espresso/mascarpone filling, chocolate cake, and a seriously wicked ganache frosting, plus meringue mushrooms and marzipan pointsettias and holly... truly a magnificent work of art.

since he went all out and used scharffenberger chocolate, it was especially delicious. the whole singing group raved about it.

back to our regularly scheduled christmas panic mode...
