well shit. exploder just killed a nice long entry. here we go again... not quite so long, and in safari.

bill got up with linker and let me sleep until 9. cleaned up the bedroom, watered plants (two of my four african violets have died, due to rough handling from the linc. one is hanging in there, and the fourth is doing great; that's the one bill got me when linc was born). hauled bill to work, took clay and linc to crown center to watch them set up the outdoor ice rink (due to open tomorrow). lots of construction, a big PITA to get to the rink. talked with a worker dude who explained the mechanism of the rink and pointed out the new goodies. wandered back and was distracted by the hallmark visitors center, spent an hour learning all about hallmark's history and manufacturing. pretty cool.

after bagels for lunch, we headed over to union station to see some tibetan monks at work on a mandala (which will be dumped into the missouri river on saturday). here's a pic from my phone... limber fellas, huh?

went through the new rail experience exhibit, nice but we've been spoiled by the fantastic rail museum in sacramento. headed back to crown center for the kaleidoscope arts program; clay and linc colored and stickered and played in the very bright and shiny rooms... clay wants to go back soon.

headed to target to pick up a few things (linc snoozed for this portion of the trip), then dashed back home to get julia to her babysitting job on time. i was a little worried about her; we had heard that the person hiring her was possibly not doing things in a kosher manner, and it could impact julia in the long run. i urged her to clarify things with her employer, and offered to stick around for the conversation. she declined, and i left her there...

picked up bill, came home, made a butternut squash soup (turned out kinda thin, but tasty), played a game of scrabble with cord and bill, got a call from jules wanting to be picked up. turned out that the employer got pretty angry with her when she brought it up, and the upshot is that julia is now free on thursday nights. too bad it ended like this, but she was getting used by this person, and needed to extricate herself before things got worse. still, she's getting nice money from the church for helping with the childcare on sundays, and maybe that could go into a long-term thing? i hope so... she's good with the kids, and the first half of the job is always pretty light; she could use that time to study (and get paid for it!).

got home, finished the scrabble game (actually won, which was nice because the last few games i've played with paula, i've been owned badly). we're talking about doing a turkeyfest midwest... gotta get that in gear if we're doing it.

finished linc's moccasins, gonna start on clayton's next.

g'night.
