The winds of change...

... they are gusting across the land!

A moving video from the Iowa Majority Leader about why there will be no anti-gay-marriage legislation this session, c/o [livejournal.com profile] bearsir.

Vermont passes gay-marriage bill, first spotted over on [livejournal.com profile] saxikath's LJ.

Hang in there, dear California. The tipping point is approaching!

Things that amuse me, No. 3,428

So I'm looking through the food and exercise tools over at The Daily Plate, and I'm a little irked that I cannot find Nia on their activity list.

I can, however, find writing (245 cal/hr), knitting (204 cal/hr), and juggling (544 cal/hr), so they've got the important stuff covered!

Spring flowers

Spring flowers
Originally uploaded by mamagotcha.

Today, Linc and I visited one of KC's truly under-appreciated treasures,
the Kauffman Memorial Garden (on Rockhill just north of Volker). Free,
peaceful, and meticulously planted and maintained by the Powell Gardens
folks, the spring display is remarkable..

This is Linc and a spectacular flowering quince.... not easy to find,
but worth the effort!

Lots of hyacinths and daffodils are up now, with a smattering of tulips
and hundreds more set to open in the next week or so. Don't miss it!

Aslan's coming to KC?

Or at least, some of his costume appears to be heading our way.

Union Station is announcing an exhibit of items from the making of the Narnia movie.

Try to snag some tickets over here... or at least see the promo video, which looks pretty nice... but I suspect the actual "exhibition" will be kinda cheesy. Still, if they're running the movie, it might be worth a visit.

Too bad it's not the LotR show, though! Now THAT would be awesome. But hey, we're not Boston or San Francisco... we're lucky it's not the Teletubby Extravaganza.
