It's snowing outside. It's really beautiful, although I know I won't feel that way about it in a few weeks. I wanted to make something warming before I had to go deal with shoveling the driveway and getting the car ready to go get Bill and Linc (yay! they're coming home! boo! no room in the garage for a car... we've got our fridge and stove in there. We finally thought to plug in the fridge, so at least that's being useful as well as taking up space).
Thai Chicken and Corn Chowder is doing the trick very nicely.
I drank too much mulled wine and ate too much cheese and sugar on Sunday night, and fought off a combo migraine/sinus thing all day Monday, d'oh! After napping and not really eating all day, I cooked up an entire bunch of curly kale with half a head of garlic, some spicy Italian chicken sausage and a bit of olive oil. This concoction, followed by a neti pot session (a what now?), thankfully proved to be quite restorative.
Clay got up at 10 a.m. today, right as it was starting to snow, to go jogging. He finished his final last night. He helped me fix up the house all weekend (cleaning and putting up holiday decorations), and played games with me. It has been entirely delightful to just hang out with him for a few days... he's an awesome kid.
Speaking of awesome kids, my daughter is due to come into town on the 20th... only 11 more days, woohoo!
By the way, Clay's School of Rock concert is this weekend... if you feel like immersing yourself in the oeuvre of KISS, let me know and we'll get tickets to you. There are two shows to choose from: Dec. 13, 4pm and Dec. 14, 1 p.m., both at The Brick, 1727 McGee St.). He'll be playing both drums and bass, and he'll be onstage about half the time (he's in 9 out of 20 songs). SoR requires parents to cough up the dough for $100 worth of tickets, so for pity's sake, don't pay at the door... get your tickets from us, they're just going to waste if you don't!
