Chilly and cheery

It's started snowing this funny kind of snow, little styrofoamy balls that squeak when you step on them (I just got the idea yesterday to use this toy next time it snows the fluffy stuff, maybe later today?). Our visit with Scotty and Kat Meltzer yesterday was wonderful... I've always been a big Scotty fan, but the more I get to know Kat, the more I want to just run away with her, hole up in a beachside cabin and write and eat and tell stories and solve the world's problems together (if ONLY they would LISTEN to us!).

Sparrows are filling up at the feeder, I'm trying to finish one last knitting project, Clay's playing "Excite Truck" to "Hardware Store" (oddly, this combo works better than you'd think... oooh, and Linc just started chiming in on the chorus! Too cute!), Bill's at work and then stocking up at the store, and Linc found a box filled with Clay's old plastic dragons and trucks, which he is industriously spreading through the entire house.

I guess we all prepare for the holidays in our own special way.

Gonna roast a chicken tonight, make some marinara with spicy Italian sausage for tomorrow night, and Bill's making Danishes with peach preserves for Christmas morning.

Cord flies in at 11:55 pm on Christmas Eve (oh dear lord please please please let his plane be on time!)... I haven't seen him since May. I can't WAIT!

Thinking of you all, far away but close and warm in my heart today.
