So Thursday was my birthday, and it was pretty nice as birthdays go... a few nice presents to open in the morning, a few cards in the mail, nice weather, pastries for breakfast. Julia watched Linker so I could go to the yarn store and get counseling on a knotty sock problem. It turned out to be a misprint in the pattern, which pleased me no end.
Bill made reservations for dinner at 40 Sardines, which is a place I've been wanting to try for a while now (owner/chef Debbie Gold is one of two previous Beard Award winners in KC). From the first sip of my 40Sardini (a grapefruit martini! mmm) to the last nibble of my rack of lamb, it was sublime. Bill concurred.
Belly full and contented, ( we came home. )
A fabulous transition to 44, all in all. Thank you, everyone! And especially Julia... you're an awesome daughter!
