Jean, who - met in Brownies a million years ago, showed up for an

overnight visit. After braiding for 7 hrs to raise money for CA

midwives, we headed to Nugget market, aka The Temple of Food, for party

supplies ("Supplies!). Then off to Tosi's to eat, drink and make merry

with Tosi, Mary and Kris... turned out Jean and Mary have some career

overlap and ideas that kept things goin pretty late. Power went out at 2

am, so we had to get ready for bed vis phone lights, yay technology!

Slept like lumber...

Woke up to an old friend asking for a braid... Carrie was an apprentice

midwife when Cordell was born, is now CAM chair and running a new birth

center in Uganda. She was accompanied by Charlie, a 3 week old Lamancha

baby goat... cute cute cute! Did up her hair and caught up on kids and

life and adventures. Now making some eggs and veggies for breakfast. Off

to meet up w my sister in town then off to Sonoma to see my folks. This

has been a fabulous trip... hey, people who want to meet for Monday

dinner, Ilm not ignoring you. My phone has had bad reception... we need

to pick a place, but I think 8pm is the time. cant wait to see you all!

We're at Oliver's market, picking up lambchops and other goodies to make

a nice Mother's Day dinner for my folks. This is a very nice young fella

at the cheese counter who was willing to talk Mimolette lice and Purple

Haze chevre and so on.

also found some wild yogurt in a crock (St. Benoit), very cool.... got

the Meyer lemon flava. And some Bogle pinot, fingerling potatoes, and

other goodies... yum!

I have had zero luck finding a decent place to eat and meet in

Oakland... apparently the hotel I'm at has some places close by. So

shall we meet at 7:30 pm tomorrow (Monday, May 14) in the lobby of the

Oakland Airport Holiday Inn Express, 66 Airport Access Rd., Oakland CA

94601 (from SF, take 80E exit Hegenberger Rd., turn right, left on

Dolittle Dr and left on Airport Acess Rd.). I'm thinking Vito, Mr. E,

Paula, Genderfur, Lunacow and any othe HALFLABers... but the more, the

merrier! I can't get to comments here, and my cell has crappy reception,

but once I get out of Sonoma I'm hoping it will get better.... can't

wait to see you! And feel free to pass the word along or bring a pal.
