That Hat Pattern

A friend asked me for the pattern for Clay's hat (the previous post has pictures), so here ya go, Kelly! (and everyone else, if they are interested)

One skein Trendsetter Savvy yarn (note to Kelly: this is available at Florilegium)
Size 11 dpns
11 rounds, maybe 24 inches?

Cast on 12st on the dpns, divide onto 3 needles.

Round 1 (and all odd rounds): Knit

R2: *K1, m1* (at end of round, you'll have 18st)
R4: *K2, m1* (at end of round, you'll have 24st)
R6: *K3, m1* (at end of round, you'll have 30st)
R8: *K4, m1* (at end of round, you'll have 36st)
R10: *K5, m1* (at end of round, you'll have 42st)

(m1 means make a stitch... you can do this by either picking up a stitch, or K through the front and back of the same stitch (this is what I did on this hat). more info here at Knitty.com).

Switch to rounds. K to end of yarn (leave about 2yds for bindoff, be generous!). BO VERY loosely. Rim will roll on its own naturally. Weave in ends.

I knit two ~8" lengths of black i-cord and stitched to the crown (a bit asymetrically) for decoration.

Whee, now you've got a hat!
