mamagotchaSo, I finally got everything together to make a bunch of these, and I'm feeling rather chuffed:
If you want your very own pair, there are two ways to go about it:
Making your bulb earrings:
Tear apart a string of miniature holiday lights... gently pull the whole bulb away from the string. These bulbs ARE glass; use your hands but be careful... pliers will be too much and might mar the color even if they don't break the bulb. If the base comes off with the bulb, no problem... the wires should now be exposed, so they'll be easy to extricate from the base, leaving you with a bulb with two little copper wires a few centimeters long coming out the end. There were five colors on my strand (red, orange, green, blue, pink... if you have a pair of the flasher bulbs, you could add those in, too!). Use round-nose pliers to curl those wires into a tight little loop. Put two of these bulbs onto a jump ring (I didn't have any on hand; I used a makeshift mandrel, 24 gauge brass Artistic Wire, and some snips to make my own) and close. Two more colors go onto another jump ring, and link to the first. The fifth and last colored bulb goes onto a third ring, then link it to the second and a gold-tone fishhook ear wire before closing. Make a second earring the same way, and you're ready to flash 'em!
