little perls of wisdom...

i've been knitting!
no, i haven't forgotten about finishing our road trip story. but this will be much easier to post, so you get it first...
last night, i finished the purple Lucy Bag:

and before we left on the trip, i made these little felted balls:

the one on the left was the first one, made with recycled yarn, and it didn't felt up too well. the second was with Lamb's Pride, which felted fine. since i wanted to use six colors, i had to do some math to figure it out (the pattern originally had ten wedges). i have some vague notion of knitting more of them and selling them on ebay or something. we'll see where that fantasy goes.
i got a bit of birthday money, and used it to buy some interchageable needles. i got the set on saturday, and today i started my first project on them! but unfortunately, it's a surprise for someone, so i can't say what it is... yet. it's made of this luscious kettle-dyed mohair from uruguay, and so far it's been a dream to knit with.
i guess that's about it for katje's knitting news, except that it seems pretty funny to be playing with wool when it's 98 degrees out and humid as heck.
