Cordell has been visiting, and one of the projects I'd hoped he'd tackle while in town was to build a Lego space shuttle for Lincoln. My sister had sent a Technic shuttle set (8480), and yesterday we pulled it out. He spent two days building it, and tonight we finally got to play with it. It's got fiber optics on the rockets; the landing gear moves up and down; the aerilons flap up and down; and there are motors that open and shut the shuttle bay doors; lift, lower and rotate the Canada arm; and open and shut the solar panels on the satellite hanging on the arm.

Linc playing with it ("Ooh! That's a beautiful shuttle!"):

This one is NOT going to be taken apart. Thanks a million, Aunt Amanda and Cordell!
Meanwhile... good luck on your upcoming (delayed) liftoff, Atlantis!
