A request...
A very old and very dear friend of mine has a child that is terribly sick from leukemia. Little Henry is about Linc's age, but he's spent a lot of his childhood in a hospital room. He's back in the hospital again, and this time when they got settled, they found that all the DVDs in the ward have been stolen.
Leaving aside the karma that will descend upon the head of someone who would do such a rotten thing, I'd like to ask a favor. If you have a few bucks you'd be willing to put towards this project, here's my request:
Look on eBay for a Region 4 DVD of a favorite kids' movie (I picked WALL*E) being sold by someone who lives in Australia (to keep shipping costs low). Buy the DVD and request the seller to send it to the hospital.
Here's the address:
Fourth Floor Nurses Station
Royal Childrens' Hospital
Flemington Rd., Parkville Vic 3052
Australia
You can let them know that the gift is in honor of Henry Dewar, if you like.
And if you can't afford it, no worries. Just hug your kids, if you have 'em, a little harder for me tonight, OK?

I kinda really hate this solution. I've been striving all year to be taking *less* medication; I went from three Robaxin a day to zero, and cut my Celebrex dose in half. But if it's the difference between sleep and no-sleep, especially when a highly likely consequence of no-sleep is seizures, I have to suck it up and take it. (Yes, I wake up even through the max dose of Lunesta. I KNOW.)
Considering that my other plan was to completely alter my sleep schedule so I'd sleep 2pm-10pm, wake up and get shit done through the night, and have my work time at BARCC essentially be my evenings, this is better?

Panel signups are open! So sign up! Technically you have til October 2, but sign up now. Also remember that if you have a specific reason you want to be on the panel, or some particular point of expertise, please tell us in the handy-dandy comment box. When assigning panels, I look at the ranking (1-5) and the comments *first*.

Also, I bought Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Yo Gabba Gabba - It's Time To Dance, Sesame Street - 40 years of Sunny Days, and Disney's Sword in the Stone. My daughter loves all of those, and I hope they'll help cheer up some poor sick kid.

So, I don't even WANT to know what sort of scum would steal from a children's hospital
