Mother's Day and my mom

I wasn't going to see my parents on this trip to CA, bexause I was
coming back in a few weeks for Maker Faire. But since that isn't
happening for me this year, I didn't know when I'd be back in the area
to see my folks again, so I was going to try to zip down to Penngrove
before leaving for home on this trip.

After setting up the booth on Friday, I got a call from my dad... my mom
was in the hospital, with a multiple compound fracture of right leg,
above the ankle. I was told not to come yet, and as the weekend
progressed, was told not to come at all.

I felt kind of hurt and rejected by this, and decided to come down
anyway to give my dad a bit of support... at least HE seemed happy that
I wanted to come see him. So, after a very successful Whole Earth
Weekend (which I hope to write up soon), I borrowed my hostess' Prius
and drove to Sonoma County.

This is the only picture I think my parents have of each other as young
sweeties. I think I'll pick up a new frame for it. I fly back to KC
tomorrow... yay Southwest for no-charge flight changes!
