Also, coming from NYC & now living in Boston, the price tag is kind of mind-boggling to me. I'm renting out the 2-bedroom apartment on the first floor of my house for more than you'd be paying for this entire house - and I'm below market!

It's near a not-so-great area of town, which is part of my concern. Where we were before, a similar house would rent for at least twice that. But yes, the housing costs in KC are really affordable, and it's really been the reason we have been able to let me stay home with Linc on one income.

I'd pay a lot more for it, though, if I knew you were living upstairs, woman!

Your #1 repair: foam corner covers on that hip-killer (/toddler-head-killer) counter that sticks out 8" or so at the end of the kitchen.

Heh. We have a bed that has hip-toddler killers, too. Fortunately, I'm well-padded, so it doesn't get me quite so badly, but Bill's had a few real debilitating whacks on it.
