Wow

I had heard about Jill Bolte Taylor, the neuroscientist who observed her own stroke. Today, [livejournal.com profile] essaying posted a video of Jill talking about her experience.

It's moving, intense and powerful, not to mention laugh-out-loud funny in several places. I posted this here with [livejournal.com profile] jedusor in mind, but there are others on my flist who might enjoy it too...

(Sorry... I couldn't figure out how to embed the vid myself. Fail.)

I watched that... while I agree that its quite funny in several places, I got the message that "religious fervor" and "life-threatening brain damage" are more closely related than we might otherwise think.

Of course, this is coming from someone who considers his most intensely spiritual experience of all time to be getting his wisdom teeth removed.

And to almost change the subject... http://www.iamtrex.com/?p=570

If you read through the comments on [livejournal.com profile] essaying's post, you'll see more along those lines.
