Cleaning mouse

I am mesmerized by these incredible "book autopsies" by artist Brian Dettmer. If I could afford art, I would want one of these.

A member of an organization I belong to has published a kids' mystery book: "The Puzzling World of Winston Breen," by Eric Berlin. Know a curious kid? Send a copy his/her way!

I'm reading two blogs dealing with weight loss... two very different attitudes, but both seem to be working for their authors. One is by a gal who is writing an "reason I hate being fat" entry for each pound she wants to lose, the other is The Fickle Finger of Fat, by fat acceptance activist Hanne Blank.

The new Knitty is up!

I've recently pruned the old flist a bit. If you're heartbroken that I took you off, drop me a line and let me know (I probably dropped you because you haven't commented in ages). For the newcomers, I've got a few filters on my blog (sex, exercise, doula work for a perinatal hospice, and a magazine I've been working with). Let me know if you're interested in any of those. Also, I've got a food blog going over at Moody Foodie.

That's all, folks!

Awesome entry

Thanks for all these great links - especially the heads-up about Knitty (sometimes I forget to check). I like "Foliage" and "Pecan Pie" (the latter being one of those 'heavy-concentration' projects I love, but need to really be in a serious knitting phase to begin).

What kind of magazine are you working with? -L

It's a radical mothering magazine I was thinking of becoming further involved with. Rose can give you the upshot...

Back when I lived in Ann Arbor I walked into the LBGTetc. bookstore. Normally I could just walk in but this time I walked into a book reading. Then I noticed that the audience was larger than usual...and I didn't mean that there were more people. Then I turned and saw, it was Hanne Blank reading from Big Big Love.

You do get more than your fair share of celebrity sightings, don't you?

I'm glad that book is out there for those who need it. Thank goodness I've never felt that my size has ever really had an effect on my sex life (well, maybe on who wil participate with me, but no book will help with that). I guess I wish fat folks weren't quite so vilified, but I'm afraid I share a lot of the same judgements against others that are pointed at me, so I'm really not in any place to complain.

Whatever that means.

Heh, she was the biggest (famewise!) "celebrity" I saw in Ann Arbor. They must have good book signings in KC...but I just remember that they had great ribs. ;{)}
